What I’m Up To – Dec 2025

(As of Dec 2025)

Start of month: List out goals. End of month: Note progress.
Ongoing: Teaching English. Climbing. Cleaning House. Hiking. Reflexology-ing.

“Just Because”-ing

  • Sewing, clothing alterations, shoemaking. (Learning is the goal – a project for each is ideal.) – Have given lots of thought, but zero action. Whoops!
  • Turtle comms. (Dienekes is my main live baby now, if we discount my aloe vera plant. I wonder if we could communicate beyond scratches and yelps.) – A little better. I think he’s a bit happier now.
  • Fiddling. (As in actually. Not “around.”) – A couple times. Still sounding horrible.

Enjoying

  • The giddy-little-girl feelings of hanging out with people I like, looking at Christmas decorations, eating great food, and drifting through intersections a little more than intended. – YES
  • Chess. – You win some, you lose some. Always playing for the love of the thing.

Cooking

  • Biang biang, tong yoon, wagashi, longanisa. (Making all but the last from scratch. Hopefully.) – …Nope. Only the last…

Practicing

  • How to show care without annoying the ones I’m caring for. – I think I’m improving, slowly…
  • Typing without looking at my fingers. (Shocking, I know. My eyes are slowing me down.) – Same as above.

Creating

  • Pen sketches. – Made a couple I’m happy with!
  • A better approach to teaching AP Lang. (So many mistakes made, so many things learned in the first semester, so many ideas to work through in the next.) – Still working. Have a stack of notes to plow through and clarify.
  • confessions/aye – No progress, sadly…

Pondering

  • A BOOX tablet. – Bought one – loving it!
  • A simplified diet that’s dirt cheap, scalable, nutritious, and easy to pack. – Closer than at the start of the month. Still gonna work on it.

Thanksgiving

  • Space and time to reflect on a year that has NOT turned out the way I wanted or planned it to, but has been one of the most brilliant, painful, healing, and joyful ones I’ve lived. – YES
